for Families
- by Calvin Miller
- Bethany Backyard - Bethany House, 2002

- Called an introduction to the "greatest Man who ever
lived," this book is a smorgasbord of carefully selected
stories, songs, parables, and poems about Jesus Christ. Calvin
Miller, is a painter, poet, pastor, and best-selling Christian
author. His 30+ published books include Into the Depths of
God, The Unchained Soul, and a heartwarming novella
entitled, simply, Snow.
-
- Some of the readings are original by Miller himself, while
others hail from writers like Charles Dickens, Pearl S. Buck,
Miriam Mason, and Walter Wangerin. Beginning with Chapter One--"When
Jesus Was a Little Boy"--families are drawn into the life
of Jesus, his teachings, and his amazing miracles. Other chapter
titles are:
- Jesus and His Friends
- Some of the Amazing Things Jesus Did
- Five Things Jesus Taught Us to Help Make the World a Better
Place
- Five of the Best Short Stories Jesus Ever Told
- When Jesus Died
- The Big Surprise
- Miller writes, "Christians have always believed that
Jesus was the special friend of children. From the first time
children go to church with their parents, they are taught that
Jesus loves them...."
-
- That love is reflected in this presentation of Jesus' life.
It's a wonderful treasury, and an ideal, easy-to-understand tool
for exploring Christ's teachings together.
