Where Do The Balloons Go?,
by Elena Davis
- Illustrations by Anna Jurinich
- Hardcover: 32 pages
Publisher: Red Rock Press; (August 1, 2004)

- Who can forget the first time a prized helium balloon slipped
up, up, and away, never to be seen again? Here's a sweet tale
that will warm the hearts of readers everywhere. Author Elena
Davis has teamed with illustrator Anna Jurinich to create an
imaginative world where balloon fairies "live in a cloud
too high for us to see."
-
- Before breakfast, the fairies frolic with balloons in every
shape and color. They ride balloon horses and listen to balloon
mice play musical instruments. And once a year, all the fairies
embark on a magical trip to a beautiful castle, where they help
their friends the tooth fairies prepare a delightful birthday
celebration for their queen.
-
- Although wordier than most picture books for this age group,
Jurinich's playful art is filled with color and light. Parents
mat appreciate the gentle reference to healthier food choices
("As the fairies work together to create the birthday feast,
they sample "crunch carrot curls, aple slices, caramel corn,
pretzels, and peanut brittle."), but young readers will
most likely drool over pictures of a table piled with brightly
colored platters, bowls, and trays filled to the brim.
-
- This book offers a fun escape for kids of all ages--even
grownup kids who always wondered what in the world happened to
their lost balloons.
