How to Drive an Editor Bonkers
©Bonnie Bruno 2001

1. Assign him a catchy nickname and use it, to prove you're down-to-earth.

2. Deliver more than you promised in your proposal - much, much more.

3. If an editor invites correspondence by email, dress up your exchanges with cutesy animations.

4. Send a holiday card to his pooch.

5. Ask him to explain the difference between a query, proposal, and inquiry.

6. Paperclip a McDonald's gift certificate to your manuscript.

7. Forget to add return postage, as a sign of confidence in your work.

8. Send a notarized sheet of all the friends and relatives who were blessed to tears by your story.

9. Share how many times a manuscript has been rejected so far.

10. Be sure to mention that (1) God told you to send this lovely handwritten manuscript to him, and (2) you've been having recurring dreams about its acceptance.
