Audrey Wood claims she's "always been ahead of her time." Her father taught her to swim before she could walk. At one year old, she managed to climb over a seven-foot chainlink fence. And by age three, she was reading books by herself.

She got in trouble in elementary school for crossing out the name of Dr. Seuss and adding her own. She knew early on that she wanted to be an artist. Later, in fourth grade, she decided she would write children's books.

Dreams are for chasing, and Audrey Wood has certainly caught up with hers. Learn more about her life as a writer and illustrator, plus how she and husband Don Woods have combined their talents to create some of the best-loved children's books.
