GLASS PLATE RULE VARIATIONS SUGGESTED  BY PLAYERS

Under each of the lettered catagories is a set of choices of featues for a
Glass Plate Game or suggested variation from one to have. Pick no more
than one per catagory to list features of a version of rules you would
like to try or to contemplate. Notice some have "x"'s beside them; The
standard Glass Plate Game has all of those combined.


 a) game direction
   x Undirected: no set topic.
     Directed: a topic set beforehand
b) deck used
   x Standard, with cards on a wide variety of topics.
     ideas selected for one specialty or topic.
c) participants creating new cards at playing
    x... at start
    ... any time during game
    ... no
d) chains of thought
    ... Serial: each additional idea just related to
     idea immediately previous.
    ... Cumulative: Ideas must be related to 
      the entire chain of thought
      to point where it is added..
e) Cards brought into the game if and only if:
    x... all players understand them.
    ... all players understand and 
      feel comfortable about discussing them.
   ... if rejected the first time they cam be explained later
      on the basis of cards already admitted.
f) Alternative media (if not(q or a))
    ... music
    ... theatre
    ... mime
    ... eye talk
    ... drawing
    ... sculpture, etc.
    ... poetry
g) Zoom-in, zoom-out: Instead of the units for the players to
    relate always being single ideas or cards, they could be:
    ... groups of ideas.
    ... previously made relations
      between ideas.
    ... segments of a game.
    ... a complete game.
h) Leading questions: partially completing a move to suggest that
    someone else or a particular someone else complete it.
i) Refereeing:
   ... for points.
   ... for arbitration proceedings ...
     preceding the negotiation phase. 
j) Suggestion and response: a formal language or language parts
   beyond the existing game, so that hints given in the formal
   language could help a partner in guessing the relation intended 
   and the team score a point. Evidence of guessing correctly
   would be the continuing of a series of predicted hints.
k) "Wild" cards used. Presenter selects... person to right
   interprets.  If the interpretation matches the intended meaning
   the game proceeds as usual, if not, the originator challenges, and
   gives the interpretation on which the game proceeds.
l) Players, in addition to marking the new idea as connected to
   one or more previously brought into a chain /chains mark the
   connection as to what type of connection it is. (see the 2 1/2" x 5"
   card in the 1984 rules.)
 
Other
   ... players connecting ideas using the pattern left on
     the board from a previous playing. 
   ... Drawing off the deck and relating to the previous card drawn
   ... Domino version.
   ... 5 card poker-like.
   ... Gyn rummy-like.  
   ...
