What? You think I'd be awake at this hour?

Since mid 1995 I had wanted to move to Oregon, to be closer to Mark and many other friends I had made. Too late for Mark but I've finally moved as of November 1997 and in June 1998 moved into a house. I didn't think I had moved that far north, but in February 1999 it snowed here.

Just some general thoughts...

If I have any, I'll put them here.

got to see it to make sense

Those stats everyone asks about...

My music tastes...

If I put up pictures of the CD's or bands I like and listen to, there'd be hours of graphics to download. What, you're not connected at 128 kbps? I like different types of music depending on what I'm doing and the mood I'm in. I may pick a few some day though.

My hobbies...

My aquarium is one of my hobbies. I keep freshwater tropicals. I have a medium size tank, 60 gallons. It's what is commonly refered to as a community tank, including a variety of types of fish rather than all of one type (such as all Angel Fish). Sometimes, one choice of inhabitant may dictate the selection of it's tank-mates. But that's part of the challenge. I am trying to simulate a "biotope" of a particular environment, that of a moving river with rocks and branches/roots creating pockets of calm in the water current.

Meet one of my tropical fish. When I got him, he was about an inch long. This ugly monster (Plecostomus, probably Hypostomus) was a little over 10" overall length when I took this picture. Actually figured out how to swim upside down to get to the flake food on the surface before it had a chance to settle!

When I moved to Oregon back in November 1997, some of my fish didn't survive. I had been maintaining a home-away-from-home in Mark's old room and had set up a temporary tank for them in the basement. But all my efforts in preparation and care in transportation didn't prevent some of the fish from going into shock, refusing to eat and soon dying.

I've moved a second time, into a house, and though I had plans to set up a larger tank, the last of these original fish have recently died. I still intend setting up the tanks and will update this page with more pictures. The problem facing me remains finding or building a stand strong enough to support the weight of a large amount of water that also spreads the weight across a lot of floor space so as not to damage the floor (so I don't have to keep it in the garage).

Other hobbies include my truck (go use the index and pick the gift box to see my "toy") and I'm studying to get my amateur radio license. I've not taken many pictures lately except with my digital camera, mostly for web pages, but some of my favorites are here as well as some of my poetry.

I also like working on cars with my friend Mat in his front yard.

Some of my poetry...

I'll put some links here to a few of the things I'm working on, maybe even finished.

Storm ...to someone I hurt without knowing.
Parent ...to the child I don't have.
Road ...signs and familiar sights.
Wound ...to the love that could never be a lover.
Down ...for a visit North.
Last Storm ...to Mark.
