Sometimes a project goes smoothly.
Every stage completes on schedule and reasonably close to budget.

Other times something just gets in the way.

LIKE A '91 MAZDA!!!

There I was, minding my own business and driving AT the posted speed limit. I wasn't even on the phone. And the other car just jumped out in front of me.

NO! REALLY!

OK, it rolled out in front of me, from a driveway, without stopping.

I was able to swerve into the center turn lane (they have them a lot here; it took some getting used to. Where I came from, if they had that much room they'd make two traffic lanes. But that's a different story...) to avoid driving over it. I barely felt it. My hat fell off the back seat.

Nobody was hurt.

The guy at the body shop says it's only cosmetic.

Cosmetic? (In body-work-speak that translates to about $3,500.) I'm still glad the other insurance company is paying for it!

Oh, the Mazda? They carried it off on a flatbed.

Work in progress, for some light off the road...
