Mark and I spent hours over the two days prior to the concert looking for the tickets. He'd put them away for safe-keeping and couldn't find them. The fact that he'd just moved back into his parents place after losing a paying room-mate at his first apartment and the room being a mess didn't help.

The night before the concert, we gave up and went upstairs, figuring we'd both turned everything in his basement room upside down twice. As he sat in the big chair in the livingroom he looked up at the Worldbook Encyclopedia set and I could see the light go on! The books HAD been in his room but were moved up for safe-keeping because of fear of flooding from all the rain. He'd put the tickets in the "W" volume (or was it "Z"?)

I drove us that afternoon, to Portland with a few friends and met a few others there. It had been a long time since I'd been there and nobody really remembered which exit to use. We made it though. An experience (now especially) I'll remember forever.
