EarthFaire & Procession of
the Species 2008
Saturday, April 19, 2008
EarthFaire: 10am-2pm,
1st and Madison Street.
The Corvallis Environmental Center's EarthFaire will be
held from 10am until 2pm on First Street between Monroe and Madison. Festivities
will include exhibitors, music, crafts, and playful creations. There will
be activities for children and families in the Eco-Village where exhibitors
share the exciting work that is taking place locally to make our community
a healthy, thoughtful, safe, interesting, and sustainable place to live.
The Eco-Village is an opportunity for residents to explore resources and
find information about water conservation, native landscaping, bicycle
transportation, renewable energy, organic gardening, 'green' materials,
resource efficiency, local foods, alternative currency, and more! Earth
Faire 2008 will feature Corvallis-based live music.
Procession of the Species: Noon, 1st and Jackson Street.
The Procession of the Species will gather at noon in Jackson
Plaza on the Riverfront. The Procession will begin at 12:30pm and wind
its way through downtown Corvallis. Everyone is welcome to participate
in this artistic and creative celebration of the Earth. Participants are
invited to represent species from each of the elements: Earth - land animals,
Air - winged creatures, Water - fish or aquatic species, or Fire - extinct,
mythological, or fantasy species. There are three basic rules: no motorized
vehicles, no pets, and no written words. There will be costumes and masks
available for loan prior to the start time at the information table in
Jackson Plaza. These are limited and available on a first come, first
serve basis.
