I am about to build a cedar strip canoe and have your book. I am planning on either the 16' or the 17' Micmac. Which is your preference?
Steve,
I think of the 17-footer as the more versatile of the two, with the advantages of more capacity, better tracking, and a little faster. The 16-footer saves some weight for portaging, and when most of your paddling is on small rivers, comes out the winner for manueverability.

Steve finished his 16' Micmac in 1997, and it weighs 63 pounds.
He has fallen in love with canoe-building, has built a second canoe,
and plans to build more with his children.
