David is the author-illustrator of The Stripper's Guide to Canoe-building,  the first book on strip-building to be published, drawing on his experience of building wood-strip canoes and kayaks in the early 1970's. Responding to the crisis in petroleum production, he began work on an electric vehicle in 2005. For more historical details, see David's Boatbuilding Biography.

Will build boats for good coffee!
