David is the author-illustrator of The Stripper's Guide to Canoe-building, the first book on strip-building to be published, drawing on his experience of building wood-strip canoes and kayaks in the early 1970's. David studied photography and cinematography in his undergraduate work, and has a Master's Degree in systematic design-planning. He has had much practice organizing, editing, and transmitting information, as a teacher in public schools and at Ohio State University, and as a lecturer in treatment centers. He lives in Eugene, Oregon with his wife and son, and works 4 days a week helping customers at a photo lab.
