Kights on the Web

It may be the familial equivalent of the Urban Legend, but I grew up with the impression that Kights were few and far between, and that if I ever met one, chances were s/he was related to me.

In the spirit with which one checks the new Phone Book to confirm one's existance, I can't help cranking up Lycos once in a while and doing a search for "Kight."

Here are a bunch of Kights with Web pages, many of them leading quite interesting lives. Nope, I don't have a clue whether we're related.

In fact, given that I've spent most of my life explaining to people that it's "Kight-with-no-n-pronounced-like-kite," it wouldn't surprise me a bit if some of these folks were actually Knights with typographical errors...

Note: Personal pages really are the proverbial 15 minutes of fame. Don't be surprised if some of these links don't work. I recently cleaned them out, and I was amazed at how many had gone away.

  • Curious about the family name? Looking for information about ancestors? There's a Kight Family Forum on one of the geneaology sites that might have the answers.
  • There's an uppity blues woman in the clan! Check out the tour dates for E.G. Kight, who has an album called "Have I Got the Blues For You"
  • Crissy Kight, from "Nowhere, Ohio."
  • Dave Kight of Vidalia, Ga. (Dave seems to be a popular Kight name)
  • James Kight has a very nice Web page ... and a twin brother who's also a Dave!
  • Bill Kight works for the U.S. Forest Service in Glenwood Springs, CO, and is part of the Mining History Network
  • An article on The oxidation of glucose carbon entering the tca cycle is reduced by glutamine in rat small intestine epithelial cells., co-authored by Kight, Cassandra E. of the UC-Berkeley Department of Nutritional Sciences.
  • Beliefs and Attitudes of Urban Primary Teachers Toward Physical Science and Teaching Physical Science, by Carol R. Kight. Lots of academics here...
  • One Charles Michael Kight, a convicted felon, winds up in the law texts as Kight v. Singletary
  • Sarah B. Kight is a founder and chief managing editor of the Global Legal Studies Journal
  • Doris Kight is a library technician at the Dudley Knox Library of the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School
  • There's a Chuck Kight on the Aston, N.C. United Methodist Church Program Council

Update ...

This page must be turning up in some search engines, 'cause I've started getting email from distant relatives hither and yon. Some who don't have Web pages yet include:

  • Jim Kight, a recently retired member of the Maryland branch of the clan (and cousin of Cassandra, the paper-writing nutritionist listed above)
  • Chaix Kight, a Kight-by-marriage living in Alaska
  • Another Rob Kight
  • Jim and Ceal Kight of Anacortes, Wash., who are active in their local Elks Lodge, community service and drug education.
  • Alicia Kight, the first "once-removed" cousin to contact me, and daughter of my cousin John.

Hi, folks!
