I usually call myself a liberal, if only to annoy people who seem to think that honorable old term is a dirty word. I'm actually more of a small-l-libertarian-small-s-socialist:

I believe the government should stay the hell out of our lives except to ensure that no one goes without adequate food, shelter, health care and education.

And maybe net.access ...

Well, I never aspired to be part of the mainstream ...

Living in Oregon at the dawn of the 21st Century, I find much of my political energy goes to fight the Radical Religious Right, in particular the Oregon Citizens Alliance, which shows an unhealthy obsession with what we do in the privacy of our bedrooms.
