Chunks of Zen

The Tone Sharks

Chunks of Zen is the third recording by The Tone Sharks. As David Lewis states, "Here everything depends upon mystery and suspense as the listener shares an unfolding process. The constant flux of this music ebbs and flows into unexpected configurations."

The Influences of jazz, hip hop, funk, symphonic, African, avant-garde, chamber are all included in the digestive plan -- the Sharks combine these styles in new ways every time they play.

"What makes these coolly whimsical adventures most attractive, though, is the group's warmth.  Pretty, though occasionally disturbing, the sound always is gentle, colored by the sonorities of trombone and alto sax.  The balanced collective voice always rides on a solid groove, too."
 Lynn Darroch, The Oregonian
