Born and raised in northwest Indiana, Pastor Gruenhagen attended Trinity Lutheran School and Crown Point High School. After completing his B.A. Degree in Education from Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois, he served as an Educational Missionary in Papua New Guinea (north of Australia) for 5 years.
Upon returning to the U.S. he taught in Crown Point, IN for 5 years, Lincoln, IL for 3 years, and then while serving at Calvary Lutheran in Lincoln Park, MI for 7 1/2 years taught and was Director of Christian Education. It was during those years in Lincoln Park that he was called into the ministry. He completed the Ministerial Colloquy Program at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN, in November of 1988. Upon completion of the program, Pastor accepted the call to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pontiac, MI. During the 10 years in Pontiac he served as pastor and Circuit Counselor of the North Oakland Circuit. Pastor then served at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Coldwater, MI from 1999-2006. He received the call to All Nations in the spring of 2006 and has served here in semi-retirement.
Pastor and his wife, Maggie, have three grown children and two grandchildren in Illinois, Utah, and Michigan. Pastor and Maggie are enjoying the Northwest with its friendly people, the ocean and all the beautiful scenery of Oregon.
