Sermon Notes for November 11, 2007 Sermon: They, Too, Are God’s Children Text: Luke 20:27-40 Outline: l. Everyone asks, with the Sadducees, "How do we make the kingdom of God be the way we want it to be?" 2. Since God’s own ways seem silly to us, we believe that the expansion of the kingdom depends on us. 3. Yet "the kingdom of God certainly comes by itself without our prayer" (Luther’s Small Catechism, page 19) by his power alone. 4. God's kingdom comes to us in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. 5. The Father graciously expands his kingdom by means, Word and Sacrament, which create faith. Children’s message: Signs of Holy Places Text: Exodus 3:1-15
