Sermon:  Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven Is at Hand
Text:    Matthew 3:1-12

Outline:
  1. The axe is laid to the root of the family tree.
     Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down.
  2. John points us to Jesus, who will bring the judgment of God.
     John’s coming is not simply to execute wrath and judgment,
     but Christ will make for God new descendants of Abraham.
     Even now we feast on Word and Sacrament as our tree of life.
  3. Go ahead, put up your tree and light up for all the world
     so that all may see Jesus.
