BASIC GRIEVANCE HANDLING: Are you interested in learning how to investigate grievances ... apply standards of discipline and discharge ... use grievances as a union-building tool ... present cases to management? If you want an introduction or refresher on these essential union skills, sign up now!
ADVOCACY SKILLS FOR SHOP STEWARDS: Do you want to represent your members more successfully in grievance meetings? Are you trying to build a better working relationship with a supervisor? This class will examine effective responses to common supervisory styles, and learn how to communicate more assertively with management.
ADVANCED GRIEVANCE HANDLING: For stewards and officers who've already taken the Basic Grievance Handling class. Explore the standards applied by arbitrators in deciding contract interpretation and discipline/discharge cases.
Also available: COLLECTIVE BARGAINING; PSYCHOLOGY FOR UNION LEADERSHIP; INTERNAL ORGANIZING AND SOLIDARITY BUILDING; INTRODUCTION TO LABOR LAW. Plus, most of these courses will repeat in Eugene (January), Bend (February), Portland (November & March), Salem (April), & Ashland (May).
