"Learning to Fly"

Mixed media on wood. I did this as a tribute to Tim, my primary flight instructor. Like Tim, Killdeer are masters of adept "distraction displays"! I first started flying in the early spring, when Killdeer were nesting and raising young. Unlike me, the birds fledged very quickly! All are charmed and intrigued by these lively airport residents.

Ty's Flying Achievements in 2001
This pencil-colored woodburning celebrates Ty's first solo and private pilot checkride. As his achievements continue, I will enjoy making him another one!
