May-June Garden 2007
Campanula oldie that came with the house. This has been growing in its chosen
crevice for at least 40 years. It has never seeded, produced seeds, or
otherwise gone astray.
Finally Cardiocrinum cordatum has bloomed. It started to produce offsets two years ago. Seed was planted about ten years ago.
Our neighbor's cat, Cosmo, lounges on the largest rock in my new rock garden.
In an old island rockery bed, Dianthus simulans has made a large bun.
This plant is about 20 years old.
Dwarf Iris douglasiana, bloming in May in a log planter.
Penstemon hybrid seedling from P. strictus-barbatus mix
Spuria iris hybrid, an old faithful, has been spreading around for more than 20
years. Seeds have produced some nice dark colors: deep purples, blues, and
browns
They bloomed in June this year, but sometimes waits until July. Here in Western
Oregon, it is possible to have iris in bloom most months of the year.
